When I decided to make a quilt this big I knew that I would have to hand quilt it, which was a slightly worrying thought. Sometimes, though, a massive amount of hand stitching is exactly what the doctor ordered. I need something to keep me busy right now, something that doesn't require too much thinking.
I've quilted all the way around all of the dresdens and have started on the background, with lines radiating from each point. There are 46 of them. This is a long-term therapy.
And I am getting a pretty impressive quilter's callous. Sexy.

LOL I've been doin much of the same but so far seem to have avoided that... so far... Have put needle into finger a good dozen times mind you. (and that's wearing thimble..)
ReplyDeleteSnap - a recent binding meant I have developed a sore spot! Wondered what the pork pie had to do with stitching then realised it was your thimble! Made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteI so don't want quilters finger, so ther is no chance of any handquilting going on here ;-)
ReplyDeletethat is impressively calloused skin - bleurgh! It'll be worth it though, eh?
ReplyDeleteOooh nice :(
ReplyDeleteouch ;-(
ReplyDeleteLol, I can't do thimbles and bears' noses leave me with actual holes in my finger tips, it's really most attractive...
ReplyDeleteI want to paint my nails but have a bunch of hand sewing coming up. My fingers look that way on the tips and the sides (from basting with safety pins). I feel your pain, but you will soon have a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteTht is a proud finger! Definate badge of honor!
ReplyDeletehaha! thanks!
DeleteLol, enjoy your therapy :o)
ReplyDeleteObviously you'll be entirely sane by the time you finish ;o)
I love that you're hand quilting this. As for the callus. Been there, done that, will do it again. And again. And again... :)
