Why this weather annoys me, or these blocks look much better in real life
(As a largely irrelevant aside, I seem to have developed a bit of a thing for those 19th Century style titles. You know, the ones like On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Something about the "or" just opens up so many possibilities. Maybe it's my terminal indecisiveness. Moving on...)
What with the pervalong and several swappy things I haven't had a lot of time to sew much recently. I did, however, finally manage to get to this month's bee blocks, and amazingly it is still October.
Chelsea asked for wonky spiderweb string blocks this month for do.Good Stitches, using this tutorial that she provided. These were great fun to make, although I was having a bit of a numpty day and accidentally cut off the seam allowances from one of my sections. I might have sworn a little. Possibly.
It was the turn of my favourite Canadian, Amy (sorry Susan, but you come a close second!) in the Kinky Bee this month, and she went all wonky too, with log cabins a la Quilt Dad. I loved loved LOVED making these, and was a bit sad to run out of fabric part way through. Amy was expecting this to happen so I sent them back as they were (although I felt all unfulfilled).
So yes, this weather annoys me because it is totally impossible to get a decent photo of anything. It's all grainy and the colours look awful. That's it - I'm moving to Tuscany. Anyone want to join me?

ReplyDeleteThose spiderwebs look great, even if the colours of the picture might be a bit off. And I know how you feel about the unfinished blocks for Amy, because I felt the same :-) It's a bit weird to send back unfinished blocks. Or maybe it's a Canadian tradition?

Love the spiderwebs. Also love the wonky log cabins. I now really want to make a wonky log cabin block after following your link over to Quilt Dad's tutorial. My to-sew list grows ever longer. Do you never sleep?
ReplyDeleteI live in Wales where it rains pretty much every day, but on the plus side that has given me a very high rain-tolerance level. I thought it was always sunny for the whole 12 years we lived in the Thames valley!

ReplyDeleteI love rainy weather, but you've got a point. Have been taking step-by-step pics of my bloghop project and the photos are pretty shitty under the artificial light. Maybe I should join you in tuscany. Can we have a nice big acreage where we can grow all our fruit and veg too? And a pool, 'cause we'll need ine when it gets too hot. And a maid or two to clean the large sprawling villa...
