My bee commitments for December got a little forgotten in the chaos/excitement of gifting, school plays, end-of-term parties and realjob. Now that the kids have gone away with their dad I can finally draw breath and catch up on a few things, notably my December do.Good stitches blocks.
Ursi asked for scattered chevron blocks made using a modified version of this tutorial. They were great fun to make once I got my scraps in order. I am starting to worry that my fabric hoard is not extensive enough for stash bees. I realise that may seem unlikely, but I do mostly have fat eighths of things and they are just not big enough for most blocks. If only I knew someone who owned a fantastic fabric shop that happened to be just down the road from my house. Ahem.
As a wonderful coincidence, Lucy in the brand new Stingy Bee had requested feather blocks for January. These use the same method of strip piecing then cutting sections at a 45ยบ angle. She also asked for the same colour scheme. Win and win. I used a white on white text print for the background, although it is kind of hard to see in the photos. Which were not taken in the dark, believe it or not. Perhaps one day it will stop raining.
Anyway, that's it from me until after Christmas. I'll be busy eating my bodyweight in baked goods and drinking gin. I wish you all a happy and restful holiday season, a joyful Christmas, and a paucity of sibling squabbles.

ReplyDeleteGreat blocks, but I know what you mean about the stash bee thing, I ended up having to buy a ton of fabric for one last year just for wee bits and pieces, and my local fabric shop's selection was at best cr@p, so at least you're one up on me!
ReplyDeleteHope the baked goods/gin ratio is maturing nicely now, happy crimbo!
